You are what you surround yourself with, from people to interests. Embedded in our conversations, clothing, and appearance is a personal narrative. Our worldviews influence the types of things we find ourselves interested in. Drawing from punk and metal scenes, the moveable pins, patches, and posters resemble the patchwork of interests that we use to communicate who we are and what we believe in.
This work explores the role of subculture in acts of the world revolution. Within the music we listen to and the movies we watch, there are themes that subvert the status quo and promote ideologies that oppose the dominant culture. By inviting audiences to customize this intimate space and personal objects, the artwork encourages them to reflect on their common themes and cultural significance.
