STATIC AGE

Technology has never been as readily available as it is today. However, this development is a double edged sword. The ability to easily document life, communicate internationally, and transcend language and cultural barriers is a vital aspect of understanding the world at large. Conversely, the intense commercialization and commodification of every corner of society blurs those advantages, numbing and miseducating audiences to the pressing news.

The genocide in Palestine is partly a media-based conflict. People in Gaza rely on recording their circumstances to appeal to the humanity of others and encourage them to send support. Reporters, denoted by “press” vests, are being targeted for their documentation of Israel’s inhumanity. However, social media is flooded by pointless clips that appeal to regressive nostalgia and consumerism. The current technological environment is a conflict between imperialistic greed and the world revolution.
